Marriage Vows : In sickness and in Health !

when i was getting married things were in a blur..and it all seemed beautiful because the man i was marrying was the one i had waited for all my life. He convinced me that some good men are still left and i had got the one i was meant to be with.

I sometimes wonder why dint i ever ask G to write me marriage vows, yes i know he would be wearing a dhooti paanjabi and a topor on his head and reading out vows amid my aunts doing the bengali "uluu" thing was not a very nice sight. But none the same, i love the idea of writing marriage vows for the person who will mean your world. One of my favorite parts about the vow is where we promise to be with each other through sickness and in health.

Anywyas I forgot to ask him to write me  marriage vows and we still live happily ever after.

Now you wonder whats the link between all this and the part where i wrote "sickness and in health".
G and I have always been the spontaneous kinds, who dont like planning and like to do things at the moment. Invariably whenever we have planned to go for a drive to a nearby beach, my neighbours come over or we over sleep or i catch a fever. You see, fever and me have had a long relationship which still holds priority in my 3 year old marriage. And to my surprise getting a cold and running a fever is not unpleasant as it used to be.

The minute i make that call to G from my desk and he hears me with a cough filled voice and hoarse voice i love to hear" baby take a rick and go home" after convincing him that i will, i proceed to ask the boss for a half and as i get inside the auto, i get a message "baby did you reach home? call me once you are home" Now honestly sitting in the rick is one of my favorite pass times but when with a running nose, i dont think so. So having reached home a call is made to the man letting him know i am home. and i am promised "take a crocin and sleep baby i promise i will be home before you wake up". And as the Vicks inhaler de -congests my nose and the crocin gets me sleepy, my last thoughts are usually on the lines of "What will we have for dinner..i cant cook today"

Somewhere in between, i feel a cute butt sitting next to me and his hands running through my hair. As his hands become the thermometer to judge how hot my body is, i hug him and his shirt serves in rubbing my nose. And thats when i realise "wow..he is home at 6"

As i wash my face and comb my hair , get ready to put on my socks and a shawl and place myself on the drawing room couch, i hear the gas turning on, fridge open, pan heated and within a few minutes of sitting on the couch i have a cup of hot tea with ginger and a stuffed omellette served by a man who tries his best to keep his unwell wife happy. What follows is a nice foot rub and leaning on his shoulder as i dont utter a single word of resistance to the Star Sports he is watching. But miracle happen when i run a  temperature..he gives me the remote and says"baby you wanna watch TLC?"

When the tea is over , the omlette is washed off, i see someone setting an alarm on his cell phone for 9 PM, to make sure i take my second dose of medicine after 6 hours of the first. Somehow inspite of the fever the things on my mind are
1. what will we have for dinner?
2.How will i cancel my meeting tomorrow?
3.I cant even go to the neighbours house cus my cold is infectious
4.Can i try putting some nailpolish now
5.I think French Manicure will be good cus i wont be eating rice for the fever, so no yellow nails
6.Oh i need a pedicure too but all that water and my feet in fever...no good

As i get ready to step out in my shorts and chappals i hear him say "Baby change out of the shorts please" And i crib and wear my jeans but the man wont let me be wearing shorts out in the cold in fever(of course he DOES NOT prefer me in shorts in the nearby bazaar) So he drives and his hands are on my leg , comforting me and saying "it will be fine baby...fever chole jaabe"

Eating noodles and chili chicken is probably how i would like to be remembered and he knows this very well that everytime his wife has fever she will recover only after she has noodles and chilli chicken and migraine can be overcome by Cadburys Silk. Usually the nights are terrible since my nose gets completely blocked, i breathe from my mouth,my throat dries up , my tonsils hurt and i wail ! And then the most amazing thing happens"Nose drops" and the next best thing happens as G hugs me , keeps me warm, whispers into my ears"we will go out shopping tomorrow, get some sleep baby.

And i realise, i dint really miss out the marriage vows !
