Kid ,Friends and drunk conversations

Its been sometime that i have blogged or written anything nice..surprisingly i am realising this blog is turning out more like a DINK's blog(double income no kid) not that i mind , considering i have so many important things to do every morning but the browser opens to my blog..FIRST THING IN OFFICE.

Some very interesting observations i have had over the last few days

Scene 1

G and i are watching TV on a Friday night and my cell goes off with a reminder,my best friends marriage anniversary. So i called her up and began my cheery wishes, wishing the couple loads of love money and good food. As i talk to her, i look at G and ask him to wish her too. And he nods his head saying "no no you speak"

Once the call is over i confront him and he says, baby i am 2 pegs down and drunk ,so dint wish them.

Scene 2

Saturday evening, we had plans of going to Dorabjees , which has the worlds best chicken salami and smoked pork. So i am in my room getting dressed as i hear the bar door open and the clink of glasses. I walk out to see him reclining on the sofa with his glass of whiskey and i say "baby we have to go to Dorabjees..why are you drinking now" and he looks up and shrugs his shoulder saying" i am only on my second peg baby, i can drive well.

Scene 1

Ma has a habit of calling me at work so there are times i have to make the conversation very short and promise to call her back. So one of the weekdays she calls me in office as i am typing some important mail and she asks "busy ki?"(are you busy?) and i tell her that i am a little caught up but will call her later.i do this almost thrice a week but nothing stops her from calling me at work :). So on reaching home i call her and she says" subhashish's wife is having a baby" and to such comments i genuinely feel happy for the other person, even though babies are a little low on my priority list now. Ma " I dont know what was the hurry, she had just started working in a call centre..ya but call centres are not too good for women..she is not too highly educated either, so good she is having a baby" (i know this was a very prejudiced statement, but people born 25 years before me have the right to stick to such statements:GENERATION GAP)

Scene 2

Sunday mornings when ma baba call,i make myself comfortable on the couch and speak my heart out cus i know this is one conversation which will be discussed, encrypted, spoken in the kitty party, discussed before sleeping the whole week for them. So i go on to tell her how G cooked dinner last night and how i am careful about wearing a shawl while travelling in winter. As baba reminds me of my PPF and LIC payments due in some time,Ma snatches the phone and says "mishtu when are you planning to have a baby? job and all is good, house is set, we have such a nice son-in-law but you must not delay. Work and proffesion can wait"

Its surprising or rather an understatement when we say"people are so unpredictable"

and you know what..i am used to this now..for our second marriage anniversary i am planning on a bottle of Jack Daniels for him and for my mom..well mothers can never be content with their children's life??can they..there is always the run for the MBA degree, the branded job,the perfect jamai(son-in-law) the poshest house, the longest car,the most well mannered grandchildren..see what i mean by "mothers can never be content"

And inspite of all this I love her the most and thank her for everything i have achieved, except the well-mannered grandchildren

Things eventually happen only when they must. We cannot make them happen you know.

But you don't have to listen to me.

I'm just bald, not brainy!

Only women can link 2 such incidents like which u said about G in Scene1 and Scene2. Funny :)... And ya mothers can never be contended. I wish we all dont become like them in nagging our kids. If not our kid will be blogging that "my mother is never satisfied with me" :) Good post Sulagna Di

Down 2 pegs and yeah problems ..err..questions will disappear!

well mannered grandchildren.
doubt that. :P

as for pegs, 2 pegs down is enough for a few things but not to miss chicken with ur wife. serious. :)

dunno which is the more tempting thing though, chicken or wife. :P

ps: mothers are mothers. :) and thats precisely why they want everything right for their kid whether or not the kid wants it. but u can allow them a lil um... primitiveness ryt? :)

pss: well...its the ps on my new post.

Since you read my blog, you know I deal with the same thing all the time. Just be content and happy with your life how it is now, when you are ready for a change then make it. My husband and I have been married for 2 years this April and we have no plans on children in the near future we are having too much fun right now!

Well written. Nothing equals motherly love. Please don't say "except well mannered grand children". Please say: Well mannered grand children are on the way sometime in the future.

"I already have 2 pegs and I am drunk. I had only 2 pegs and I can drive". Very familiar words. G could very easily be my buddy.

- i think the grandchildren will be well mannered BUT VERY NAUGHTY. thats how kids ought to be!

yea mothers can never be content. and can never stop saying "wait till you are a mother yourself" till you actually become one.
