Happy Birthday Boy that i am married to

How does one wish her husband ? you are the one who brings a smile on my face all the time, you are my soulmate or should I write you have made my world ? I have tried being romantic and feminine and wife like, but that’s just not me !

This would be your third birthday we are celebrating together and look how well we have progressed. Your 3 month old, brand new wife got you a Zippo and JD for the first birthday. How do I feel about it now ?? I think it started off on a good note, that our relationship would always be smoking hot and we’d always be high on love and fun and all crazy things !

The second birthday was a little more mature , as I realized you dint always appreciate my sardar mallu and bong jokes, or you dint find Edward Cullen half as cute as I did. Also we realized that I cry when we watch movies starring dogs and vampires  (remember Marley and me) and you laugh at me. I also realized you usually don’t understand when your cell rings or vibrates because work takes over all your senses. It was also the beginning of us getting a little more mature and not having burgers and breezers on the highway, so I opted for a very professional looking phone. It also helps that I take my own pictures and set it as your wallpaper and you don’t change it ever.

And today the third birthday and it’s a well known fact that you have grown goofier than ever. You have started ordering dinner at home to be Lasagna and wine, you agree to do the laundry on weekends, you have given up most of your “vices” and left me wondering “what do I give up”. The answer comes to me through your black rimmed glasses “ baby try giving up your 5 year old pyjamas, especially when you choose to go to the malls in them”. But then, I know you G baby , you are proud of me in my pyjamas, just as I am proud of you with your ruffled hair when you wake up and don’t exactly know how to react to a big birthday hug and a cake J So this year I will be honest and on our pursuit to maturity and growing up and saving and block some of my “objectionable friends” on fb, I will get you clothes. Also because I am running dry of imagination but high on realization. Its not about the fancy phone, the high end watch or the zippo pouches, its about that funny card I get you every year. Its about the crazy things I tell you about before going to bed everynight, its about how upset I get everytime you deny my offer to get home a Labrador, its about those thousands of yellow post it notes you find all over the house for you.

It love actually !

I love you birthday boy..

3 years as Mrs Mukherjee ..already ???

i sit here with a running nose but with a heart ebbing with love and memories...is it already 3 years that we have been married ?? cant be right!!

i remember you making tea with maida, thinking it was milk powder, when we ran out of milk the other day.

i remember you mixing your white shirt with my red duppatta and giving it for wash.

i remember you cribbing about the cold and insisting on a door mat inside your bathroom this January

i remember you preserving (flaunting) your 8 year old shoes from Germany, last week, expecting me to be impressed...

Wasnt it all just a few days back?? then how come we are celebrating three years of marriage.

I am sure you would be thinking on the same lines baby about your wife..

i remember the time i threw away many important papers thinking its junk

i remember the time i insisted on you taking a leave since i was home with blocked nasal passages

and oh the time when i tried making cinnamon rolls and they turn out "rocking " and you insisted its so soft and yummy.

Of course i will always remember how i pressed on the accelerator while parking our car, instead of the break !

three years just went by while we remained ourselves and enjoyed eachothers insanity. three years of learning each others likes, avoiding our dislikes, pretending to remain angry with eachother but feel miserable inside, of   cursing each others office times  and abusing people on the road...ye okay i take the credit for this one alone !

But i remember what Ma had told me 3 years back..you need to get mature, you should be responsible, learn to adjust, compromise with his family...but i havent done any of that baby..and still i claim, we are one of Gods most favorite couples !

By the way neither have you shown any such maturity, except maybe marrying me !

And today as we celebrate 3 years of being more than just what our name plate says "Sulagna & Suprabhat Mukherjee", i want to let you know, i could not have been any happier than what i am today. i love being your wife , cooking for  you, fussing over you, shouting at you, dreaming of our life together and thanking God every morning .

You have made me so complete that i cant ask for anything more..yes i pray for some babydust and the rest is beyond a dream.

Happy Anniversary G baby !

Marriage Vows : In sickness and in Health !

when i was getting married things were in a blur..and it all seemed beautiful because the man i was marrying was the one i had waited for all my life. He convinced me that some good men are still left and i had got the one i was meant to be with.

I sometimes wonder why dint i ever ask G to write me marriage vows, yes i know he would be wearing a dhooti paanjabi and a topor on his head and reading out vows amid my aunts doing the bengali "uluu" thing was not a very nice sight. But none the same, i love the idea of writing marriage vows for the person who will mean your world. One of my favorite parts about the vow is where we promise to be with each other through sickness and in health.

Anywyas I forgot to ask him to write me  marriage vows and we still live happily ever after.

Now you wonder whats the link between all this and the part where i wrote "sickness and in health".
G and I have always been the spontaneous kinds, who dont like planning and like to do things at the moment. Invariably whenever we have planned to go for a drive to a nearby beach, my neighbours come over or we over sleep or i catch a fever. You see, fever and me have had a long relationship which still holds priority in my 3 year old marriage. And to my surprise getting a cold and running a fever is not unpleasant as it used to be.

The minute i make that call to G from my desk and he hears me with a cough filled voice and hoarse voice i love to hear" baby take a rick and go home" after convincing him that i will, i proceed to ask the boss for a half and as i get inside the auto, i get a message "baby did you reach home? call me once you are home" Now honestly sitting in the rick is one of my favorite pass times but when with a running nose, i dont think so. So having reached home a call is made to the man letting him know i am home. and i am promised "take a crocin and sleep baby i promise i will be home before you wake up". And as the Vicks inhaler de -congests my nose and the crocin gets me sleepy, my last thoughts are usually on the lines of "What will we have for dinner..i cant cook today"

Somewhere in between, i feel a cute butt sitting next to me and his hands running through my hair. As his hands become the thermometer to judge how hot my body is, i hug him and his shirt serves in rubbing my nose. And thats when i realise "wow..he is home at 6"

As i wash my face and comb my hair , get ready to put on my socks and a shawl and place myself on the drawing room couch, i hear the gas turning on, fridge open, pan heated and within a few minutes of sitting on the couch i have a cup of hot tea with ginger and a stuffed omellette served by a man who tries his best to keep his unwell wife happy. What follows is a nice foot rub and leaning on his shoulder as i dont utter a single word of resistance to the Star Sports he is watching. But miracle happen when i run a  temperature..he gives me the remote and says"baby you wanna watch TLC?"

When the tea is over , the omlette is washed off, i see someone setting an alarm on his cell phone for 9 PM, to make sure i take my second dose of medicine after 6 hours of the first. Somehow inspite of the fever the things on my mind are
1. what will we have for dinner?
2.How will i cancel my meeting tomorrow?
3.I cant even go to the neighbours house cus my cold is infectious
4.Can i try putting some nailpolish now
5.I think French Manicure will be good cus i wont be eating rice for the fever, so no yellow nails
6.Oh i need a pedicure too but all that water and my feet in fever...no good

As i get ready to step out in my shorts and chappals i hear him say "Baby change out of the shorts please" And i crib and wear my jeans but the man wont let me be wearing shorts out in the cold in fever(of course he DOES NOT prefer me in shorts in the nearby bazaar) So he drives and his hands are on my leg , comforting me and saying "it will be fine baby...fever chole jaabe"

Eating noodles and chili chicken is probably how i would like to be remembered and he knows this very well that everytime his wife has fever she will recover only after she has noodles and chilli chicken and migraine can be overcome by Cadburys Silk. Usually the nights are terrible since my nose gets completely blocked, i breathe from my mouth,my throat dries up , my tonsils hurt and i wail ! And then the most amazing thing happens"Nose drops" and the next best thing happens as G hugs me , keeps me warm, whispers into my ears"we will go out shopping tomorrow, get some sleep baby.

And i realise, i dint really miss out the marriage vows !

How G and i fight now and back then !!

At 27 when you fight with your man,its a little difficult to behave the same way you did at 25..seriously!

At 25 when we guys fought, i would pick up my brown teddy, stand by the window and cry.
today i switch on facebook chat and smile

At 27 i call Ma and speak to her and pretend everything is fine, since she WILL NEVER beleive that G is at fault, so no point complaining.
at 25 i called baba and told him, get my tickets done, i want to come home, tomorrow morning, first flight

At 25, when we fought, he would be the first one to make up for it and bring home a huge bouquet of roses and a bigger smile on the face, when he returned home
Today he walks in from work, takes a shower, and puts his favorite shorts, pulls out the newspaper and reads it *yes i dont exist at that point*

At 27, i got to sleep without dinner, toss and turn all night with a growling stomach and keep looking at him, damit!! he is snoring!!!
at 25, i made myself some Maggi and left some for him, slurped mine secretively in the balcony, went to bed, tossed turned and looked at him, damint!!! he is snoring!!

At 25, i used to cry and weep and cry and sulk and say "why did i marry this guy"???
Today, i growl, bang doors and think" Shiitttt, i cant go the parlour this weekend, till our fight is over" **i have too high an ego to ask him to sponsor and drop me at the parlour**

At 27, i plan to meet old friends and have a cosmopolitan and good Italian food
at 25, i stayed at home, looked through our wedding pictures and sobbed

At 25, i used to delete his msgs and his pictures from my cell phone,
Today, i go to his desk and remove all his important yellow post-its about work reminders, and pretend i know nothing

At 25, he came and hugged me when he saw me crying as i went to sleep and would say "pls dont cry baby"
now he switches on HBO and comes to sleep at 12, long after i am done with my tossing turning and sobbing

At 25, i woke up in the morning, from the previous nights fight, feeling miserable and ran to hug him and say"i love you G baby"
Today, i wake up, make some tea, pull out his Brittania crackers and hug him and say "its ok baby, i forgive you and i love you a lot "

At 25, after we got back to our "baby" and "sorry" i cooked up a nice lunch and fixed a strong Vodka
today i preach "all is well which ends with a Vodka"

Bhindi Gobhi the husband and me !! (priority wise)

Being a working wife is a very very very difficult choice i have made in life. On one hand i need to make sure that my office mails dont go unanswered and on the other hand i need to ensure the husbands lunch does not look dull. There are days when i am in the middle of a meeting and on the sides of my organizer i scribble"call plumber to look at the leaking tap", there have been instances when i am talking to his mother and make a mental reminder, not to call her during office hours since the conversation usually lasts for an hour..yes 45 minutes at the least..yes yes , with his mom.

Those of you wondering what i talk for an hour can email me, and i shall provide free consultation.

Once i reach home, i need to make some more important decisions, like should i scrub my face now, or should i do it before i sleep off. Choosing the latter , i get into the kitchen, and start doing what i love doing, cooking.

When i was a kid, vegetables looked threats to me, they were reminders of my puny, 3 feet tall existence and my mothers 5 feet 8 inches existence. Vegetables reminded me of the balcony, where i was usually asked to sit for half an hour if i dint eat vegetables. A s child i was a fussy eater, so sometimes when my father opened the magazine kept under the coffee table, a piece of chappati would fall out. There were instances where my mother would be puzzeled on seeing red ants marching towards the Tulsi plant, since thats where i would throw my Horlicks infused milk. I had also tried flushing a katori(bowl) of dal, but unfortunately the katori crash landed in the commode and the plumber had to be called. I sometimes feel i had a tormented childhood because of vegetables, horlicks and milk.

Today at 27, things look a little brighter, i am faced with a new challenge from my 6 foot tall fridge. You see, apart from all the ice cubes it supplies for the jack daniels, apart from the stock of chicken nuggets it freezes to feed us on Friday evenings, it has a big vegetable box. Every saturday morning , when G and i go to the nearby Reliance Fresh, i make a mental reminder of things we need to buy. There was a time when i used to write things on a post-it, which G would stick on the trolley, and in between picking up, Brittania Crackers and corriander, he would drop the post-it. So the plan dint work and we decided on mental reminders.

As we enter Reliance fresh , i head to the section of vegetables, praying to God, "please give me more options apart from gobhi and bhindi( cauliflower and Okra) " and as fate would have it, there lying in front of me, in bright red boxes, drizzeled with water i see a whole lot of happiness. I see cabbage, i see capsicum, carrots, turnip, bottle gourd, brinjal ohhh ...wow!! finally i will make "paanch meshalir torkari" ( five vegetables mixed with spices, super popular in bengali households)

With absolute eternal acknowledgement, i pick up one shiny, round gorgeous Brinjal "Baby why are you taking begun(brinjal in bengali) ?" the man asks. I turn around and smile and expalin my thoughts on paanchmeshalir torakri, to which i hear "ohhh nooo baby, i dont like bottle gourd"

As a good loving wife, i sacrifice my thoughts and march to pick up some French Beans, "Baby these are old, lets get some other vegetables" trying my best to hold back my tears i turn around and see whats staring into my face"gobhi and bhindi"

"ahhh these look good" and a KG each are taken.

Moving ahead, i cheer myself up and say, this time i will experiment with some new style of cooking. I will buy some paneer and probably Tuesday night could be mattar paneer. So smiling at teh though of the green round peas, i open the freezer and pull out a pack of "Safal Frozen Peas"

"ayii baby i dont like frozen peas, take the fresh ones"

With the look of a woman, who has been asked to rub some mustard oil on her hands, instead of the new Elizabeth Arden lotion, i pick up half a kilo of fresh peas. Mental reminder" give Bai an old kurti and ask her to peel the peas for me and keep on Tuesday morning"

Finally when we reach the billing section , we have a man who is very happy with his Brittania crackers, the crate of red Bull, the king prawns and the box of Mentos. While i sulk at the trolley filled with so many things that looked threatening to me, once again a deja vu of childhood..though i love the bunch of Broccoli smiling at me, i look back at the shiny tomatoes, i nearly kiss the carrots and capsicum, i will miss the others i left behind.

And i knew , tonight again i will dream of wearing a huge gown, making some peas soup, with 7 children screaming on the floor and G driving a tractor in the backyard. And all the while the cauliflower and Bhindi are watching the new movie sitting on the Brown leather couch !

The Art Of Married Conversations

The art of married conversations is like a skill, which man and woman master with every passing phone bill and visit of relatives.

He: I called your parents today from office..had some time in between my sutta break so made a call to Ma

Me: Oh did you thank her for the Kurta she sent for you ?

He: Yes baby and also said that you looked very pretty in the blue suit she sent for you

Me: awww does baby wana have some chicken Lasagna and pound cake for dinner tonight ??

Verdict : one call earns a man one exotic dinner and dessert(yes you can use your imagination for the dessert)

Visits from both sets of parents is mandatory in married life, there are lot of benefits, of course it varied on WHO'S parents are coming.

Me: I have asked ma baba to come to Pune in June, Since Jamshedpur will be every hot during summers.

He: ok

Me: I told them just to get the one way tickets, return tickets we can do from here ?

He :ok

Me: It will be fun na..they will see our new home..wow i am so excited

He : Yaa

Me: Whats wrong with you ya, you are not saying anything ??aami shudo kotha bolbo ki (In Bengali: Am I the only one who will talk?)

He: Ya baby..it will be fun

Verdict : some conversations naturally leave men dumbfound and nothing can be done to change it.

Of course the pattern of conversation varies when his parents are visiting

He : Did you speak to Ma today?

me : which one??jamshedpur??

He : No no Mumbai..

Me: Oh naii was pretty busy at office so could not call them, had spoken two days back.

He: They are coming next sunday.

Me: Oh

Me: But we were planning to got to Lavasa next weekend

He : Yaa..it will be fun, they will also come

Me : yaa

Verdict : Always place yourself in the spouse's shoes when you show your excitement about a parents visiting

Visits to relatives places are of equal importance, since your clothes shall portray more about you than what you actually are

Me : Baby one of my far off cousins is in Pune for some work, so i was thinking of meeting her for Lunch.

He : oh..when?

Me : Sunday afternoon

He : which cousin?

Me : my cousin, her husband and their baby, so we will need to first stop at the mall, pick up some gifts for the baby and then go.

He : Oh..i remember they had come for our wedding

me: Goddd ya..no baby they hadnt ..that was Tutul Di who stays in Calcutta..this is Piu didi..offf ki korbo ei lok ta niye(In Bengali : what do i do with this man )

So sunday noon as we drive down to the mall

He: Where do you want to go, which shop ?

Me : i dunno ya..you suggest na..i am the one who is always suggesting .

He : ohh oki then how about Shoppers Stop? they have a nice kids section

me : ey nahii this is the first time we are giving something to the baby , should be something like Benetton or Lacoste

He: hmmmm

As we finish our buying and head towards the hotel he asks " why did you suggest Barbecue Nation, its so far?

me : offf ya baby, its a nice place and posh..no chindi crowd ..areee why you wearing this shirt??

He : I thought you will like it..you got me this Tommy

Me: ohoo it looks like you are flashing brands, achha roll the sleeves , tat way the Hilfiger brand wont show

So finally after the lunch and the "come over to Muscat" and " next time stay at our place " we were driving back home

Me : Rishi Da was nice na?

he : ya

Me : Piu didi too is so adorable ?

he : Ya

me : And oh the baby actually came to you..i am so proud of you?

He : ya

Me: Thank youuu baby..how about some fried prawns and Vodka in the evening ?? You must be tired since we are out since 10 in the morning??

And as he drives, i place my hand on his left leg and see that tiny smile

Verdict : all is well that ends with a Vodka

Some tricks of the man i am married to !!

I have had the absolute joy of sharing my life, my thoughts, my kitchen secrets, marriage secrets, secrets which no longer qualify as secrets, with a lot of you and believe me when i read your comments nothing can bring me more happiness(except maybe a hot chicken croissant and coffee)

so i was thinking, why not share the other side of my life, you know the part where i cry and sulk, the part where i bang the fridge door and dont care about my calorie intake at all. Yes the dirty part where G becomes a nightmare to deal with.

Over time this blog has been like a diary where i love writing down everything about us, our little world, our beautiful home, my 4 door wardrobe, the porcelain bathroom tiles and the soft persian rug in the living room.

Hold on, did i just say beautiful home?? on an average i spend 20 minutes EVERYDAY tidying up the kitchen counter after dinner. Dinner is usually cooked with a 6 foot man hovering behind me , looking for an opportunity to eat the scrambled eggs from the pan, just one second to pick up 3 paneer cubes as i fry them and keep them aside for the Palak Paneer. This man who makes it a point to leave the ice tray empty after his weekend use of ice cubes with the Jack Daniels. The man who makes it a point to keep the microwave on, after heating the tea(yes i make tea in the morning which he has after an hour). G never fails to surprise me with his innovative ways of storing food in the fridge, since sometimes i see the frying pan in the fridge shelves along with the small pressure cooker , in which i had cooked the daal.(its all done with the purpose of helping me, mind you)

Talking of my second love, my wardrobe, which had been a subject of conflict ever since it was gifted for our anniversary. The six foot man i am married to thinks i should give him some place for his ties, socks and mufflers in my cupboard. Not to forget, its understood if i have 4 doors and he has only 3, the extra one is the reason for conflict. So amid my scarves and stoles, there are glimpses of blue silk ties and white mufflers. Off course, since i have a separate place for my bags, his Louis Vuitton also goes there.

G and i share a lot of things, guess thats how we spend so much time with eachother without ever needing a third person. we like the same kind of food and the same bathroom, yes since we have the special porcelain tiles in the master bedroom , the 6 foot man makes it a point to keep his shaving foam, the razor, the funny looking gadget called trimmer, along with his Brut and after shave bottles, right next to my chocolate souffle body lotion. Some men i tell you are just not satisfied with their place in the wife's life, they want a share of the basin counter too. Of course no body appreciates, i agreed on a dark brown shower curtain, so he does not have to suffocate in the shower area seeing a bright pink shower curtain( and then people say, no sacrifice goes un noticed)

And oh the beautiful Persian rug in the living room , the same on which i do my early morning Yoga watching TV, has stains on the edges, because somebody i am married to, forgets there is a rug on the floor and walks all over it as he volunteers to open the door as we return from our weekend shopping. Why only this one, the pink rug in the bedroom with the satin cushions are usually found scattered around the room , in the morning as the man fumbles to the loo at night.

So, since most of you have been thinking how blessed i am and what a wonderful angel i have to spend my life with, i think its my moral obligation to give you a glimpse of the devils horn, behind that innocent face that has left a mark on my left ventricle for a lifetime.

Pink Loofah and Gillette Shaving Foam, happily together

I started asking you for suggestions as i wore my sandals to work

you asked me if your brown belt is going with your shirt

i looked at you while you sleep and feel my left ventricle throbbing

you ran your fingers through my hair and smiled, as i pretend to be sleeping

You work on your laptop and i try my best to not hug you and kiss you as you stare with all your attention on your embedded system details

and you patiently help me choosing the right flowers to go with the drawing room curtains

you started liking sweets after dinner since i had a hereditary weakness for sweets

i enjoyed breezer with pink lemonade and suggested Two tequila shots to celebrate our second anniversary

you really quit giving attention to the PS2

I have cut down my sunday noon pedicures to snuggle in the sofa and watch TV with you

i started sleeping with the curtains drawn cuz you hate the sunlight seeping in from the windows in the morning

The fear of darkness suddenly vanished as your arms came around me as i snuggled in the bed

you took me out to drive your car with all your patience (and prayers)

i keep my patience as the kitchen turns into a battle ground when you decide to make the sunday breakfast

the bathroom windows are always to be kept opened, something you never remember

and sometimes very conveniently i forget to tell you i used your credit card during sale season

i have tried to make place for your shaving foam on the basin counter

and you never complain on using a bathroom with Lace curtains and pink loofahs

Chocolate souffle was always a dessert.till you saw my new moisturising lotion

Black belts were always worn on my dresses, till you spoke about your six sigma thingy

Peach was always a fruit till you heard me saying "i bought a peach coloured saree"

and i realised my patience has been growing ever since i watch the 3 day test match series with you

i glow when someone refers to me as "Mrs Mukherjee"

and i can see your non-existent blush when people say" you guys are so made for each other"

I guess that's all "knocking my breath away " means !!

When i sulk and sulk and sulk and weep

So talking of my trouble ..remember i said in my previous post ath there was slight trouble in paradise..and at such times i realise

the diamond studded ring has no glitter till he does not hold my hands as we walk

the roads get scarier as i try crossing them alone as he chooses to walk a foot back when angry

the malls look so tempting but my ego sets in betweeen and i cant ask him to buy me the red sequined cushions

an advantage of running away with his credit card and shopping, texting him to let him know this, and not getting a reply,on staying in limits

allright,i do wait to get that reply text which says "spend carefully baby"

walking out of the house in the morning, the cold cold morning, without a hug

reaching office, checking my cell million times and still no text from him saying" have a nice day baby"

talking to both sets of parents over the phone, pretending to be all normal and cheerful, behaving mature

driving silently in the car as he drives ,without paying attention to my fake act of a head ache

watching TV sitting on either ends of the couch, not really bothered about whats showing on TV but realising how incomplete the experience is

checking your credit card balance and then sending the biggets bouquet of red roses and a note hand-delivered to his office, expecting a peace out text saying "i love you baby"

in reply getting "thanks for the flowers, they are lovely"...no no no this is a formal text not the usual types

getting inside the blanket and waiting for his arm to come around me at night

opening your eyes in the middle of the sleep, still waiting for that arm to come around me

early morning silent tea over the newspaper, and a quiter breakfast

Staying out with the girl gang and shopping to stay away from his anger, and all the while check my phone if he has called on textd

Running back home and hugging him, crying and saying "i am sorry baby" and feel his moustache rubbing against your skin after 6 days :) :) :)

Aghhhhhhh i hate fights!!!

a husband, his wife and her blog

My Gmail inbox alerted me today afternoon of a comment from suprabhat mukherjee pink n black Mumbai May17 2009

i hurried and went to the blog to read what my husband had to say..it surprised me that he would comment on this one, since he had been absent from the kabir anushua love story from the first part itself.Knowing him,he would have been too busy in his lab at Wipro trying to find some new sexy new advance technology for an Audi or a Ford.

So i rushed to see what he to say

Suprabhat Mukherjee Said ....Whoa! The inevitable...what people have been waiting for...has happened! Not come accross any writer yet who would have given it a different end/begining of the end. Don't intend to either. As my fav actress Ms Dhupia says-sex sells. Yes, Yes, Yes.... I want more! Of biting and stuff.

Now when your husband writes like this it means
1.he dint like the direction of the story
2.he is trying to say "baby why did it have to be so predictable"
3.You should maintain your difference and individuality, instaed of writing about sex,bra and condoms
4.In Short, please dont write like this again

I completely got where he was coming from, somehow i dint want to accept it. So

Sulagna Chatterjee said... This is Mrs Sulagna Mukherjee replying to Mr Suprabhat Mukherjee : Baby i dint over do it ..did I?? Just a tiny glimpse of sex(err....love)TH
the last para strikes a bell..Now?? ha??

At this point of time i was pretty sure that my reply would ensure no further comments and all i would get is perhaps a smiley as a reply. I was in for a shocker though

Supbrabhat Mukherjee said....Absolutely not! I think it was very subtely put. Only that it becomes remarkably unsurprising. No one is compaining though!

Oh yes, you bet. Noticed all t's and i's. Strikes a lot of bells :)

Slam Dunk! Checkmate!!
I dint expect a reply at all but he did..usually we women know(think) we are wittier than our men so take it fro granted that in a word fight they WILL keep queit..apparently my husband has stilla lot things to take me by surprise.
And oh the worst part was that i dint understand what "noticing I's and T's is " i knew about minding your P's and Q's

Izzat ki dhaaji happened.

So now the wife in me takes the new "meaow..i am just a little cat who fails to understand the ways of the world" and replied in vernacular(so you guys wont know)

Sulagna Chatterje said....T's and I's??? ki bolcho baby?? bujhte paarlaam na :(

*the dumb look on my face*

So after patiently waiting, refreshing my page for 15 minutes and seeing no reply i called

the innocent wife: babyyyy what T's and I's you wrote..i dint get it

the wise husband: oh nothing baby..just a phrase..i saw all the details

the dumb wife: oh you mean the Ps and Q's?

The wise Husband: No baby the T's and I's is said when you refer to someones writing, like the way someone makes it a point to strike across the T's and put the dots on the I's

the super dumb wife:oohhh bujhlaam(understood)

The innocent wife: baby you dint like the post?

the wise husband: No baby,i liked it..its just that you dont need to write sleazy stuff to get more comments and earn fans

The wife with punctured -ego : nooooo not for that..i wanted them to end that way..you know make love

The wise husband: baby wriitng such stuff about sex, condoms and bra and all that is not doing justice to your writing ability

The wife with punctured-ego: yeahh..i know ,i felt a little wierd too writing that paragraph

The wise husband: Keep your style of writign different from others,i have been reading blogs of one book hit authors who write only about fuck, sex, drugs and crap...you dont have to

the quite wife:hmmmm

the wise husband: anyways...it was nice and yeah i did notice the details..why did you write my birthdate...

The (now)happy wife: hehehe...the date and activities collided with ours ..thaz why

Dear "husband who cant take care of his clothes"

To Whomsoever It May Concern

its been a long while that my life has been revolving around keeping house, working ,cooking, watering plants, feeding the hungry goldfish and even hungrier owner and keeping away your clothes(i use a gentler and nicer word here instead of the actual items of clothing)

Ever since our marriage i have been making it clear shouting from the living room to the bedroom that clothes and other things need to be kept back from where taken..this applies on newspapers read and crumpled on the sofa, sugar bottles taken off from the shelves and kept somewhere, remote control on the dinning table, watch on the washbasin and of course the socks strewn across from the laundry basket to the dinning area. Of course i have stopped expecting you to wipe dry the kitchen platform or to fold your clothes since these are unattainable by you.

i have tried pleading, begging ,fighting,a grumpy face, doors shut and even no breakfast before office, but nothing has been working.

So,in a situation like this which calls for dire decisions to resolve a contingency, your socks, other items of clothing and your watches shall be confiscated and hidden till a time will come when you have no socks to wear to work..

Baby i know you will be reading this and laughing..but i am very serious this time.

yours loving and super-functional

Cooking up love

the phone is ringing and i hear the song"love love me do"..its G calling me. In the middle of cleaning the chicken for dinner i rush to pick up the phone.

G:baby are you home?

me: yes baby..came home half an hour back, making butter chicken tonight :)

G: woowww...kintu baby amaar khide peche ekhon(but baby i am hungry now)

me: how much time will you take to get home?

G: stuck in traffic at the flyover, should be home in 20 minutes.

me:oh thik hai( okay) i will egg cutlest for you

G:yummyy..oki wiat i will come and cook it..you just get the things ready

me:oki baby,i will keep the stuff ready, you acn make it when you reach home

G:ya ya i will make it..you dont stress out yourself with so much of cooking after work

"i smile and say My God what did i do that i have him in my life"

me: Oki come soon and drive safe.

G:Bye

As i keep the phone i see its 7:10PM, so i plan things while i move around. Let the chicken thaw till he comes ,meanwhile i need to boil the eggs and potatoes and chop the onions and tomatoes. While i fry the vegetables i will marinate the chicken to let it rest for 1 hour before i cook the butter masala.

its 7:30 and the egg cutlets are ready,(yes ready as in cooked and ready to be served with some ketchup and thousand island dressing) while the chicken has been marinated and kept aside

7:40PM the bell rings and a very tired husband enters the house and says" khide peche" (i am hungry) and as he takes off his shoes at the couch i bring in the plate of cutlets and tea.

G:Ohhh you made it !

me: :) yes baby

As i see him biting into the food and looking guiltly at me, i realaise, once again

marriage is about giving without being asked to..and that smile on the hungry face is what can take off all your aches

My Arranged Marriage :Part Three

The last two posts were about how we met and what happened when we met..today i thought of rounding off our story with our marriage and the tiny three month courtship we had.

When a girl knows she is all set to marry this guy, there are lot of things that happen like,

Relationship status is changed immidiately on Orkut and FB
Chat with friend on Gtalk have the link to the guy's profile
the guy's number is saved with a special name
identifying the caller,a special ringtone is set
words like "awww:)" "hehehe" and "yaaa i know" become the most important parts of Gtalk
sudden attention is paid to the caller tune she has set on her phone and it moves away from hip-hop
the girls parents no longer bother her when is found on the phone talking to him at 2 in the night
she starts smiling to herself when she hears some songs
she likes writting down her name with her new married surname :D
she smiles before dozing off

When a guy knows he is all set to marry this girl there are few changes

Friends are scrapped saying"Feb mein kya kar raha hai,i am tying the knot"(what you doing in February)
some friends are warned "sambhalke post likhna"(be carefull abt what you post on my wall dude)
he plans a quick visit on-site for a month to earn some extra cash and manage a longer leave for the wedding
he pays the building watchman extra money to come and clean up the house before he leaves for the wedding
he removes all traces of ashtrays and liqour bottles from his house, the social networking profile and conversations with buddies
he makes a mental reminder "need to call her after work"

So this and a lot more happened over the three months that intervened before the first time we met and the day we got married,an exact three months of which a month and a half was spent in Germany. Laughing at the sad office food, while chatting and telling him what is PDA(public display of affection). Somewhere in between speaking to his mother about your shoe size and ring size, while my parent worry about his suit lengths and gifts for the relatives. I found myself pointing at unknown boys in malls and telling the guy across the counter in Vna Huesen,Fossil and Jockey "us ladke k size ka " (i want something of that guy's size) yess i know how embarrassing it can all be.

And amid all this i went to work, spoke to him for 15 minutes in the middle of work, sent maisl to colleagues inviting them for the wedding, manages to maintain my calm as i got a "i love you" text from him while dinning with my aunts n uncles,i also survived 5 hours of sleep since the hours we were home were spent on the phone.

the internet becomes your lifeline,as you google everything out from"best contraceptives" to honeymoon places" to words he uses on his blog, previously unheard of..

And then finally 9 hours away from the wedding i get a message on my cell.."you are the best thing that has ever happened to me"

And everything else is put to rest..today its exactly 2 years since we first met and all the 15 minutes converstaion happened..

And if there is one name that has touched my soul, and brings a smile on my face every time,i have it inked on me :)

Happy Anniversary baby

My Arranged Marriage :Part two

My first conversation with G was for 15 minutes within which i had to decide yes or no....since i am sharing this with all my friends i guess its best to be honest..there were so many questions and "comments " in my head

Does this guy smoke n drink? its okie man..i am used to staying with my rommies who stacked breezer during summer and rum during winter
I hope he is not a geek being a typical IT guy that he is ? i guess tahst ok,cuz he seems to be a nice guy

ohh i like his fingers..they are nimble(i had checked out his feet at home when he had taken off his shoes and come inside, very clean feet :) ) at least he is clean and hygenic

i had seen his Orkut profile and i know he has a car, silver one..but i just hope its not an Indica..please it looks like a cab

"What do you on weekends?" i was asked
i looked up at his face and tried looking into his eyes!! Oh Sulagna Chatterjee was conquered right then..those eyes are so honest, simple and earnest, matched with those specktacles he wore :)) awww cute

"i am with mom n dad here since i dont have many friends in mumbai, but sometime s i travel to Pune cuz my friends are still there"

I hope he understands that when i say i "go to meet my friends" it means i party with them all weekend

He has one sister who stays in the US..hhhmmmm so it means he has had a strong influence of women in his life, considering his father was always travelling

Should i tell him abt my past now or later?? who cares it can wait ,past is not important

"Do you plan to stay in India?"

He answers" yes i have been in Germany for a long time so i can settle in India now . I dont want to leave my parenst alone here at this age.

ohh does that mean his parents will stayw ith su now?? i am ok if they come and stay with su once we have kids n all..but abhi toh(right now) i would want to roam in the house in my tiny shorts and try out things ;) ;)

"What will you have"
And i found myself blurting out "freshlime soda

WTF i dont even liek it but i had already said it..now no changign your mind

"actually i want a sweet fresh lime soda" i clarified

I waited and watched a he spoke to the waiter..ohh he is a polite guy :) spoek so sweetly to the waiter..nice

Somewhere in between our sodas, we spoke about the books we read, the music we like, the places in pune which he must visit and how i loather travelling in Mumbai locals.

In 15 minutes or so i saw dad walking into the resturaunt "hoeche??" (are you done ?)

He dint hear my father and was surprised to se eme nodding and saying "aashchi"(i am leaving)

As we walked back to our house(the resturaunt we met in was just 5 minutes from our house) our parenst were talkign about how nice the New Mumbai planning is,the roads etc while i could hear my mom telling his about the Iskon temple she visits every sunday.I was ticking my mental checklist
  • He dint stare at my Boobies
  • he dint use abusives in the middle of his sentenc
  • he paid the bill
  • he listend to what i was saying
  • he seems to eb found of good clothes
  • he smelt well
  • he was wearing only one ring on his fingers,no overload of accessories
  • he dint flaunt his German experience or the "round the world been there done that" talk

As they got intot he car to leave, he touched my parents feet(sulagna chatterjee was week kneed by now) and i took a clue and did the same.

As they drove out i remember telling myself"God i want to marry this guy..please"

my arranged marriage:part 1

The reason behind my wish of getting tattoed.....

..this November 10th we will complete two years of being together..exactly two years back, when people outside were bursting crackers,i was turning red in front of G and his parents as they had come to "see" me. The purpose of the meeting was to let the boy and girl meet each other, talk and decide if they would like to take things ahead.

although it was two years back everything is so clear in my memory...i had strictly warned my parents that i would not be marrying a guy with a moustache and as i peeped out and saw G coming out of the car with his parents.
Observation1 :he had a moustache

As they came in i preferd sitting in my bedroom listening,to them talking.i could hear his father talking about politics, cricket and fresh water fish?? i had told my parenst i will not marry a guy whose parents do the talking for him
Observation2: he was quite since all i heard was our parents talking

somewhere in between as i was trying to eavesdrop into the conversation,i could hear my mother say"sulagna used to play cricket in her school, she has played in day-n-night matches" i had also warned my parents to make sure the guy is not much into cricket and politics
Observation3: He spent his sunday mornings in the nearby cricket ground with his friends

I was yeat to hear the guys voice, when suddenly ma called me outside"mishtu baare esho"(mishtu, come outside) so with my eyes looking down and cheeks turning red i managed to sit in the drawing room. I had told my parenst that i do not want to settle abroad once i am married
Observation4: His father said,Gopal(G) will be staying in Germany next year onwards for work

Lightening was yet to strike me,when my mother said"why dont you both go out for a walk" much to my surprise G got up ,and stepped out of the door, making it a reciprocative action. As i walked down the stairs with him behind me..so many questions?
Oh my God he will settle outside India
good he dint stare at my "assets" when i entered..sober guy!!
Oh my God,he is too much into sports
shittt he does not talk at all, while i cant stop talking
does he drink n smoke???his lips looked dark..oh wait he might just like clubbing like me..what if he does not
ohh do i have to stay with his parents?
oh shit is my A** looking fine in this salwaar kameez..

"how do you travel to work?' that was his first question..and time went on..conversations ended, people exchanged greetings and looks:)
it took me 15 minutes to decide this is the man i want to marry....

So now my question to you..what should i tattoo..his name?or the date?or "yours forever" or any brain sparks from you guys????
