Seven Years Itch

I am back..after almost a year and all of you know what took me so long. It was a 3 year old tornado of a daughter, a mailbox that’s always full of red flagged mails, a house full of plants that chose to shrivel if I don’t talk while watering them, and my parents who are staying with us these days and I sometimes wonder how many children do I have in our house. Amid all this chaos there is G, my source of infinite strength, love and Rajnikant Jokes.

A year is not a long time you know, I have seen people staying away from their loved ones, in the name of work, education, moving on in life etc. But one thing we chose to take a call on was, no matter what we shall st
ay here in this country, in our country , together. We tip toe on littered streets, we show our hands and cross the roads, we don’t let our three year old play out alone, we do a “parcel” of left over food at the restaurants, I fight and haggle with stubborn Pune autowallahs, I celebrate with a home made cup of tea when I strike a deal with the local Baai to charge me Rs100 less than the usual bartan jhadu pocha rates, G and Baba love to visit the smelly fish market every Sunday, touch and feel the stuff on display before the weeks loot is taken ,Maa has her new found friends , one of who does her eyebrows for free whenever needed and oh yes we have the luxury of a cook , a maid and also a cleaner.
Who does not love this country !

So amid all this talking, bargaining, walking cooking, buying grocery, making business pitches, I lost time for this blog.

This blog taught me to write, to express myself the way I never did before, it gave me so many applauds and bravos when someone would read it for the first time , it gave me my first celebrity moment when someone recognized me in a mall because of my blog, it gave me so many many wonderful beautiful friends who have stayed with me through all these 7 years..Oh yes this blog is 7 years old !

So to take care of the seven years itch, here is my first attempt at getting back to what I have always loved, writing…and talking.

It about moving ahead, its about picking up the best from the past and creating something even more beautiful and most importantly this page will always be about Love and other beautiful disasters.

From celebrating anniversaries, to your first Father's Day !!

Hey daddy did I tell you I love you so so much, now as you cradle our bundle of love to sleep, or even when you are just switching channels  catching the score, or just when you are trying to gel your hair in front of the mirror..i believe in you like you are the glaze to my doughnut ..and then you look at me suddenly, walk past me, and land a kiss on my cheek and “bam!!” there goes my heart, exploding in love and gooeyness for you

Everything thing with us has been pretty normal, right? Like you shying to kiss me the first time, like I getting  you the Jack for your birthday, like  you being in state of disbelieve on hearing the first time about baby S, like how I went ahead and got a tattoo just so you know, I love  being “branded “ as yours for my life, like me riding the bike and pouring you drinks during our last wild sojourn in Goa , remember the first sudden hug I gave you at the station, just before my train pulled out, and of course its pretty normal for a would be father to gel his hair, as his wife goes into labour and watches him in shock !!!!
Every day I wake up to you snoozing next to our rockstar, everytime I watch her gurgle in your lap, everytime you sit her down and talk to her about not screaming at random people at the mall, the look in your eyes when she crawls on the floor in her pink Tutu, the smile on your face every time she successfully looks at you when asked “Baba koi ?”everytime you hold my waist and guide me in a crowd, everytime you come home early just cuz your daughter decided to be fussy for dinner, every time you carry my big brown tote so I can take the pinkshine in my arms, every little bit of sunshine you have bestowed in my life, you make me smile when I am stuck in traffic because I loved the way you tucked in my breakfast, and even today 5 years on I catch myself texting you in the middle of a pedicure, and inspite of knowing my feet got pampered you look at my face and say “wow, what did you do at the parlour” and that smile on my face when I say “only a pedicure baby”
So even when the nights are dotted with 3AM feeding sessions, dinners are managed with a French fry fan of a baby, long drives now need  a full tank, a full fed baby, changing diapers, mommy forgetting the taste of Mojito, it could not have been anymore better..or maybe this is what you and I were destined to be..

I love you so much Baby but I love my Baby’s Daddy just a little more.Happy Fathers Day Sexy J

You make me want to rush home and kiss you like the first time, everyday  !!

A First Letter for my Daughter

Dear S

I love you more than I could never knew my heart could love anyone ! yes I keep telling your father, how much I love him, well that’s because he is worse than you in expressing his love for me. He usually has a habit of getting me food in the bed, putting away a cup in the sink or just sit next to me and watch TV, pretty much the perfect way to make me realize that he loves me a lot.

But with you darling its different, even before I start telling you how much I love you, you look at me with those big bright round eyes and right there, I become an emotional snowball. And then when you open your mouth wide and give me that toothless smile with the gurgle…I realize you are the best in our family when it comes to expressing love.

Every morning when you wake up with two tired snoring parent on each side, you stay quiet, happy to play with your hands and feet, busy cooing at the big watch on the bedroom wall and basically letting those two sleepy heads get an extra half an hour of sleep. It surprises me that Ma and Baba keep yawning and lazing around when they wake up but, the minute you open your eyes and see us, its always always a big wide smile and those legs throwing in the air. There is so much we have to learn from you dear daughter, about never ever complaining about people whom you love.

I look at you and wonder when you grew up so big to be able to sit up completely on your own, always reaching for new things to play with, to explore. Always looking at bright colors, looking out for sudden noise and sounds that come your way, always analyzing a new face and then taking a decision if its safe to go or stay put in Dadus arms . And Ma Baba are so tired of new projects, facing new challenges at work, sitting up and riving for so long and then guilty of sometimes being too tired to play with you.

Perhaps the biggest fear which I have in my heart id when I step out to office everyday, till about a month back you used to smile and look at me as I walked down the stairs, but off late those eyes get all round and wide and makes my heart break. We can still manage to run and land a kiss on your cheek and by the time you realize what just happened, I run away. Why ? Because Ma and Baba are afraid that you will put your hands out, wanting to be taken by us, and we will be in a hurry to rush to work. Does that change anything when you see us in the evening..No. You are the happiest and most excited little girl in your rocker when you see us in the evening. The entire day your Dadu Dida tell us you have been the most amazing child ever, not troubling anyone, not fussing while eating, sleeping on time, laughing and rolling on the bed with Didu  and sitting and watching cricket with Dadu.

And did I tell you that on some evenings Ma and Baba come home with a back ache or a migraine, we take a medicine and catch a quick nap. But you don’t trouble us, rather you also catch a quick nap to wake p fresh and play with us, when we wake up. When Ma has a stomach ache she is grumbling and cribbing all day to Baba. But you are a brave brave little girl, who takes her shots and does not cry for more than 10 seconds, you just need Ma’s arms and you are back to being the chirpy little girl. We have so much to learn from you S and this I want you know because you are the best part of Ma Baba.

Last but not the least, please be this cheerful happy healthy and friendly little girl always, because even though Ma Baba go to work come back home late we want to gather the best for you as you grow up.i know we cant get you the stars but we will always make you feel on top of the world. You Baba works so hard so you and I have the perfect little life in our home. Ma goes to work so she can always pamper you a little more and bribe you a little more than Baba. Someday when we both are ridden with guilt for not being able to spend time with you, promise us you will still smile and touch our cheeks like you do now.

We love you more than we could ever think we could, and we will leave no stone unturned to make you smile , to fulfill all your drams, try and give you a beautiful life. And We know God has worked His plans for the three of us and we will all walk hand in hand !

Now that I am a Ma...

Now that i am a Ma

I wake up with a smile everyday seeing the miracle G and I have created
I dont have a fight with G which lasts more than a day because we coo over our babe together
I dont have long well manicured nails because babe loves to hold my fingers
I cut my hair short so i can quickly tie a knot and pick up the babe
I am mostly seen around the house in a pyjama and a burp cloth over my shoulder
I smell of baby burp and milk and i love it
I buy clothes without sequins and buttons because babe has to rest her head on my shoulders
I carry my world in her diaper bag which is just the fone , my wallet and keys
I cant stop marveling pretty strollers and cars have taken a back seat
I worry about furniture having sharp edges
I dont have books and lip balm by my bedside but feeding bottles and rattles
I am more aware of the latest baby cologne and not the perfume of the season
I talk of brands like Johnson and Avent and have forgotten Esbeda and LV
I am worried about the bright lights in the room and put on the dim ones so babe can sleep
I feel on top of the world after getting a 4 hour long sleep at night
I find myself smiling with eyes closed to a talkative babe at 3 AM
I have calenders marked with dates for immunization instead of "parlour and spa visits"
I rush to the infant section of clothes in a mall
I cry everytime babe gets a vaccine and feel helpless at not being able to take her pain
I am proud when i see babe sleep on her own in her stroller like a well behaved lady
I feel helpless seeing my babe cry and scream with colic
I lough out loud at her rocket farts and the expression of contentment on her face after
I love G even more than i could ever for being the best father my daughter could ever have
I wait for G so we can spend out family time on the couch
I sit for hours with an aching back while babe snoozes on my shoulder
I surprisingly dont frown over a soiled diaper and rush for a quick clean one
I have a bajjillion pictures of babe on my cell phone
I have status message all about babe and her toothless smile and non stop chatter
I am amazed at the miracle my body has created and God has gifted us
I  marvel at that tiny little body and such a big blessing
I feel the joy , the blessing, the pride, the pain, the heartache, the wonderment and the satisfaction of being a Ma
I feel blessed !
